Pattern Information
Obscurity
The obscurity is rated on a scale of 0 to 5. An obscurity of 0 means the glass is completely clear and will allow all the light to pass through with no privacy, perfect for living rooms or brightening up your home.
An obscurity of 2 and above will always allow privacy and some light to pass through, the lower the obscurity the more light is allowed to pass through.
Please note that Satin 5 is only available for double glazing.
Glass Type Information
Information
Each type of glass is made differently, these difference affected the quality and features of each glass that we sell, please review below to find out more about each glass type.
Glass Type
Description
Float
Float glass is a sheet of glass made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten metal. This method gives a uniform thickness and very flat surfaces. Float glass is the most commonly used glass for windows.
Toughened
Toughened glass, also known as tempered glass is glass that has been strengthened, either chemically or thermally.
Laminated
Laminated glass is a like toughened glass, however it has been laminated to hold the glass in place even when it is shattered.
6mm Toughened
6mm Toughened is exactly like toughened except that is 6mm in width, this adds more strength to the glass and allows for larger sizes of glass to be produced without breaking under its own weight.
Laminated Inner & Toughened Outer
Laminated Inner and toughened outer is only available for double glazing where the outer pane is toughened and the inner pane is laminated.
Glass Thickness Information
Information About Your Thickness
Single glazing thickness only includes the thickness of the glass itself. Double glazing on the other hand has an air space filled with argon gas, this why double glazing will have different thickness values when compared with single glazing.
